Hugo Morris and Meg Bailey dominates swimming events – Australian Age Championships

Hugo Morris and Meg Bailey dominated the playoffs of Boys 17-18 Year Olds 200m butterfly and Girls 15 Year Olds 200m Individual Medley (IM), respectively on final day of the 2012 Australian Age Swimming Championships in Brisbane.

The 17-year-old Morris stifled hopes of his competitors in the distant butterfly event and won gold medal of the event with a time of 1 minute and 59.59 seconds.

His scintillating effort remained marginally ahead of David Morgan, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by ending his swim in a time of 1 minute and 59.84 seconds.

Morgan was trailed by Brand Grochala, who stayed just two body lengths behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 03.19 seconds.

Grochala was chased by Ben Schreiner, who stayed only two strokes behind and completed his race with an effort of 2 minutes and 03.19 seconds for fourth position. The fifth position of the discipline was secured by Nicholas Holmes, who emerged on the finishing
end for fifth position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 05.51 seconds.

Following that, Bailey served notice of her talent in the 200m IM, where she went on a rampage and appeared on the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 19.47 seconds.

The champion was trailed by Eliza Ham, who stayed one body length slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 20.41 seconds for silver medal.

Third spot of the event was secured by Suwannachet, who remained marginally behind her former finisher but succeeded in securing third position of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.83 seconds.

The bronze medallist was followed by Elise Pidutti, who stayed considerably slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.63 seconds for fourth position.

The championship concluded after the completion of all planned events while the position holders were awarded medals for their tremendous efforts after the completion of final session.
