Matt LeBlanc against the idea of ‘Friends’ movie, reunion

The actor is against the idea of a new series or a movie for the blockbuster show. He stated that there are no plans whatsoever for any such idea and refuted claims made by the media recently. He admitted that there are numerous rumours surrounding the media circle that a movie is being made on the hit show but brushed aside any reports.

“Yeah, that’s probably won’t happen. There’s no plans for anything like that. Everyone seems to be talking about that these days, but nope, no irons in the fire there,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Blanc insisted that the 90s sitcom was a fresh idea which is why it was a huge success. He added that the six people involved had a great chemistry and has doubts on how the story would be carried forward in time.

“Personally I do. I think that show was all about a finite amount of time in six people’s lives. They were out of college, but they hadn’t settled down with their lives yet. Once they have moved on from that phase, that family unit has broken down a little bit. I’m sure they’d keep in touch a bit, but it wouldn’t be the same,” he continued.

‘Joey Tribbiani’ from Friends added that it would be best to leave the show as the audience would not be able to identify with the characters now.

“I think it’s a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’. Everyone identifies with those characters in their own way and everyone in their own mind imagines what has become of those characters. I just think it’s best to leave it at that,” he concluded.

Matt LeBlanc will next be seen in new show ‘Episodes’ on Showtime from June 1.
