Dereck Chisora and David Haye to fight on BoxNation

Former British Heavyweight Champion Dereck Chisora not too long ago locked many headlines after he literally came down to blows with the former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye in the post-fight press conference of his unanimous defeat to Vitali Klitschko in Munich in February.

Chisora’s boxing licence was withdrawn afterwards because he also remained in many other controversies. He slapped Vitali in the weigh in and then spitted water at Wladimir’s face. However, the Brit is still confident of having a grudge match with Haye this summer.

During a photo call for Floyd Mayweather’s WBA super welterweight bout with Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas on Saturday, the banned brawler has hinted a return to the ring and he has said that he will be fighting with none other than David Haye.

“You’ll see me fight next on BoxNation in the fight all the fans want to see,” he said.

Promoter Frank Warren also wanted Chisora to settle his differences with Haye in the ring before his license was withdrawn. He at that time insisted that Haye-Chisora bout would be even bigger than Vitali or Wladimir bout since people will know it is a natural fight.

“It’s a natural fight, it doesn’t matter what anyone says,” the promoter claimed.

“It’s a bigger fight than either of them fighting Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko.

“There’s lot for them to fight about – in a proper environment.

“I do see the fight happening. It’s the proper forum for them to settle their differences.”

The 28-year-old Chisora will appeal against the withdrawal of his boxing license on May 14 and he has confirmed that he is champing at the bit to pull on his gloves again.

“I’m a boxer, I’m a fighter. I love fighting,” he told ITV London. “Someone takes something you love, how are you going survive and progress in your life? I want to fight again.

“I’m not banned – I’m not fit enough to hold a licence. Banned means you’ve been banned. But when you’re not fit enough that means you’re not fit.”

Well, all said and done, let’s see if Dereck Chisora really gets another chance to fight.
