Randeep Hooda: I went on sets drunk to stay in character

The Indian actor Randeep Hooda is gaining a lot of media limelight these days and the reason behind is obviously his participation in Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Jism 2’, which will feature a world class porn star Sunny Leone as a mainstream Bollywood actress for the first time ever.

The 35-year-old actor, who started his career in 2001 with filmmaker Mira Nair’s ‘Monsoon Wedding’, talked about his role in ‘Jism 2’ with Hindustantimes, in which he revealed that he is doing a cops role in the movie and to stay in the character he went drunk on the sets.

He revealed, “I play Pratap Raghuvanshi, a cop. He has a problem with illegal guns and wants to break the nexus of illegal trade. He is also an alcoholic and drowns his sorrows by drinking.” He added, “The role was taxing. To stay in character, I went on sets drunk, because I wanted a slur in my dialogue and unsteadiness in my gait. I realised that there is a thin line between being a party drinker and an alcoholic. There was a time when I was craving for a drink at 11 am.”

‘Jism 2’, which is a sequel to the 2003 hit film ‘Jism’, is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this year and the main reason behind the films enormous hype is the presence of Sunny Leone. However, when Hooda was asked about his experience of working with the adult actress, he said she is just like any other co-star to him.

He said, “It was like working with any co-star who starts a new journey in Bollywood. She is very hard working.”

In the end Hooda insisted that he is hungry for good work and he has released that acting is his true passion.

Hooda added, “Before Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, I took a break as I wanted to introspect and to know if acting is truly my passion. I realised it is. Now, I’m hungry for good work.”

‘Jism 2’ will hit the cinemas on August 3 and along with Randeep Hooda and Sunny Leone the film will feature Arunoday Singh as well.
