Nathalia Kaur: Ram Gopal Varma is not my mentor or godfather

The Indian Brazilian Model, Bollywood actress and a trained Opera singer, Nathalia Kaur, has recently joined the Indian filmmaking industry with an item number ‘Dan Dan’ in the upcoming film Department, which has being been directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

It was Varma who provided Nathalia with the opportunity. Therefore, the actress is thankful to him but she has insisted that Varma, also known as RGV, is not her mentor or godfather.

“Ram Gopal Varma is not my godfather or my mentor. I am working with him just as Sanjay Dutt is working with him. We are working on projects together and that’s it,” Nathalia told reporters here on Monday.

“I am an actor, I am playing a character in this song (Dan Dan). It has been amazingly done. I am honoured to have got a chance to work with people like Sanjay, Rana (Daggubati) and Ram Gopal Varma,” she said.

Kaur’s item number ‘Dan Dan’ has been liked by the audiences a lot since the actress has shown everyone how well she can sizzle on the big screen. However, Kaur doesn’t want to be labelled as an item girl.

“I don’t like people calling me an item girl. I think it’s another way of showing talent and skills. I found it very artistic. People might criticise and label you, but there is nothing wrong in doing an item number,” Nathalia told IANS in an interview.

Many out there consider item numbers vulgar but Kaur, now 21, believes they are artistic and not vulgar.

“The word item girl doesn’t hit me, I don’t see this as obscene or vulgar, I found this very artistic,” she added.

‘Department’ is scheduled to hit the cinemas on May 18. The film will feature Amitabh Bachchan, Sunjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati, Madhu Shalini, Lakshmi Manchu and Nathalia Kaur.

Well, all said and done, let’s see what response the film gets from the audiences upon the release.
