Many out there are of the view that most of the actresses use casting coach to get good roles in the movies but the Indian film actress, Chitrangada Singh, who is best known for starring in the 2005 film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi’, has insisted that sexual harassment is not rampant in the Bollywood industry.
The 36-year-old told the media admitted that females are always targeted in their professional life but on the same note she stressed in Bollywood everyone has a choice of choosing what to do and what not to do.
The actress said in a 9 to 5 job females don’t get a choice of choosing their bosses but it’s a different case when it comes to B’town.
Singh is fully geared up as she is reuniting with her mentor Sudhir Mishra’s forthcoming film ‘Kaam’, which is being made on the issue of sexual harassment.
“It is a love story that unfolds against the backdrop of sexual harassment in the workplace. As a woman I understand the issue too well. Because whatever the set-up may be — urban or rural — women are subjected to discrimination. Men find them to be easy targets. But I have been lucky where I am; I have not faced any such thing in the film industry. I believe that these things are not rampant in our industry because we have a choice not to work with certain people we don’t feel comfortable with. We are the ones who decide whether we want to work or be associated with someone or not, or be associated with a particular project or not. But in a 9-5 job that’s just not possible. There, people can’t get to choose their boss or colleagues. There is no guarantee that things will be good,” she elaborated.
While speaking on her inclusion, the actress further added that she wants to do a variety of roles.
