Freddie Roach says he will tell Manny Pacquiao to quit if he loses to Timothy Bradley
Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 1:55:33 by Imran Shaukat KhanManny Pacquiao’s ‘Hall of Fame’ trainer Freddie Roach has passed on a faltering statement in which he has said that he will suggest his man to consider retirement, if he loses to Timothy Bradley on this Saturday.
The eight-division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion, Pacquiao, will take on Bradley, the current WBO light welterweight champion, Bradley on this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and Roach wants the Filipino star to turn on the style once again.
Trainer Roach said: “He’s no killer, (Bradley), but he tries hard. Manny should eat him up as he comes forward. I think Manny should look really good in this fight. If he looks bad, he retires. At least I’ll tell him to – and he may be the first one who will listen to me.”
Perhaps this is just another tactic from Roach so that Pacquiao puts in his best against Bradley and regain his image, which was damaged after his lacklustre performance against Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao and Bradley are gaining a lot of media limelight right now but still almost everyone out there wants to see a clash between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather junior. Nevertheless, all the talk of a fight with the undefeated American legend has come to nothing as of yet.
Rumours revolving around are suggesting that perhaps Pacquiao and Mayweather will never set up a fight because the Filipino ring king might call it a day in a few months since he has gone old and moreover he has ambitions of becoming a politician.
However, when Pacquiao was asked, he said: “I want to prove that I’m still young, and I can still fight. I always ask Freddie, what’s my strength like, what’s my speed. If my speed is going down I want to know. I would listen to Freddie.”
Well, all said and done, let’s see if Pacquiao really becomes the first man to beat Timothy Bradley in the ring.
