Blizzard to impose permanent bans on gamers found guilty of cheating in Diablo III

Blizzard has threatened gamers with a permanent ban from the Battle.net server if they are found cheating in Diablo III.

The renowned America-based developer has strongly condemned unfair means of getting an edge over other players during, contending that “it goes against the spirit of fair play.”

In order to curb the practice, Blizzard will take a strict action against the players who are found using hacks, bots or other modifications in the latest title of the popular Diablo franchise.

Stripping the cheaters of their Battle.net account is being considered as a just punishment to preserve the spirit of online multiplayer gaming and setting a strong example for anyone who may get tempted to use unfair means to get an unjust advantage over his rivals.

“Playing Diablo 3 legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client," Blizzard warned. "Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net and Diablo 3, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on.”

The US developer further added that “We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, bots, or exploits. Suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future.”

Hacks, cheats, bots and exploits have been an issue that Blizzard has been combating for quite some time now. Gamers always manage to find some loophole and exploit it to pretty much kill the experience for other players. However, the developer asserts that it has always taken cheating in any of its games very seriously and will continue to do so in the future as well.

Blizzard’s latest release Diablo III is an action game based on a fantasy/horror theme and features a mix of dungeon crawl, hack and slash and action RPG genre. Launching on May 12, 2012, in North and Latin America as well as Europe, the game went on to smash record for the fast selling PC game, selling up to 3.5 million copies in just a matter of 24 hours of hitting the shelves. With the release of its real-money auction house feature and player-versus-player support, the game is expected to remain hot for at least the next few weeks.
