Sami bags treble with Hertha

Pakistani-German star Sami Malik rounded off a brilliant season with Hertha Berlin after claiming the winner’s medals of three different competitions.

Although currently focused on getting into the football set-up in Germany, the youngster has expressed interest in donning the Green jersey in the future, much to the delight of many Pakistanis who follow the beautiful game.

His aspirations, though, could become a reality soon enough after he impressed during the 2011/2012 campaign and ended things on the highest of highs.

After conquering the U-17 Bundesliga, the League Cup and DFB-Pokal Cup, Sami looked back on his decision, although he added that his time in Berlin might be up.

“I feel great and even better with the title. We won everything you can win this season and this makes me really proud. A great U17 was that!” he said before replying to whether he would stay at Hertha or not.

“No I won’t. I will try for a new chance! [Away from BSC].”

He also revealed the factors behind the team’s success and also claimed that currently he was focused on his club career rather than his International one.

“Ambition, a lot of training and to have a target you want to reach. We knew that we played a good season, and so we wanted to win the Bundesliga title too. I do my best and try to get attention. Now I have to concentrate on my new club first and get started
there.”

While Sami continues his journey in German football, one can only hope that he chooses Pakistan over the European giants when it matters most.
