Ministry of Law moves for immediate release of Sarabjit Singh
Islamabad: (Tuesday, June 26, 2012) The Law Ministry has forwarded a summary to the ministry for interior in which the former has sought orders for immediate release of Sarbajit Singh.
Today, President Asif Ali Zardari changed the Indian prisoner Sarbijit Singh’s death sentence to life in prison.
Sarbajit was sentenced to death after he was convicted for planning, organizing and planting the bomb attacks in Lahore and Multan back in 1990. Sarabjit is presently imprisoned in the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
During President Zardari’s visit to India, Sarbajit’s family had requested him for Singh’s release.
