Murder Charges: Govt. of Punjab arrests two doctors

Lahore: (Monday, July 02, 2012) As the Young Doctors Association continues with its strike, nine people lost their lives in Lahore. Taking notice of the situation, the government of Punjab has arrested two doctors on murder charges,
while 33 other protesting doctors have been transferred to jail after house arrest.

While sharing details of the police action that took place yesterday night, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, the DCO Lahore said, “33 doctors, who were on strike, were arrested and sent to jail Sunday night under Section 3 of maintenance of
public order (MPO).

On the other hand, a murder case was registered against two doctors in Gwalmandi Police station charging them with Section 302 after a severely ill baby lost his life as no doctor was around to provide treatment to him.

The charged doctors have already been arrested and will be presented before the local court to obtain remand for further investigation.
