Tyson Fury: Dereck Chisora will take David Haye the distance

The current Irish heavyweight champion and former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, believes Dereck Chisora has the potential to take David Haye the distance. However, Fury feels in the end, Haye will secure a ‘comfortable’ points win over his fellow countryman.

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye and former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora will take on each other on July 14 at the West Ham’s Upton Park Stadium in east London and Fury feels Haye can easily win, if he does not get drawn into a slugfest.

“I see Haye winning on points,” Fury told the Sun. “Chisora has a decent chance but it depends if Haye comes for a fight or not. That is not the strategy he needs to take into the ring. As long as Haye comes to box and not go toe to toe, he will beat Chisora comfortably.”

The 23-year-old Fury, who holds a perfect record of winning all of his 18 professional fights, with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, easily beat Chisora by a wide decision last year in July in a 12 round unanimous decision. Perhaps this is reason why he thinks Chisora does not possess as many gifts as Haye.

“Chisora has to hit you with five, six, seven shots in a row before he hurts you, before the ref is forced to jump in and stop the fight. Chisora is good when fighting at close range and I expect it to be another cagey fight like the one against Klitschko.”

Well, all said and done, only time will tell if Haye, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, is really capable of shrugging off Dereck Chisora in the ring because Chisora can certainly make any boxer look bad.

Haye v Chisora’s bout, which is fuelled by bad blood, is one of the most eagerly anticipated bouts out there and it has been sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation with neither Haye nor Chisora currently licensed by the BBBoC.
