Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia: I am ignoring Angel and Danny Garcia

Amir Khan, former IBF and WBA light welterweight champion, is trying his level best to ignore his upcoming opponent Danny Garcia’s and his father Angel Garcia’s despicable comments.

Khan will be facing Danny Garcia, the current WBC light welterweight champion, on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The bout will be a title unification bout with Garcia’s WBC title and the vacant WBA light welterweight title on the line.

Angel Garcia, trainer and father of Danny Garcia, has been throwing ugly remarks towards Khan, targeting the former champion’s ethnicity and descent.

To recall, Garcia senior said, “never met a Pakistani who could fight” and “Khan’s God is a punishing God. My God is a loving God.”

While Angel has received enough criticism from around the world for going so low, Khan himself is trying to keep his composure.

Replying to Garcia’s comments, Khan said, “I’ve just ignored everything he has said.”

The British-Pakistani fighter added, “Even his dad has been doing it. I’ve had a lot of professional fights and I’ve been in this position before with people trash talking. It just motivates me to train harder when opponents start mouthing off to get into that ring and knock him out.”

However, Khan did retaliate a bit, calling both the father and son ‘stupid’. He said, “It just makes them look stupid because it will not get under my skin or break my mental focus.”

“It’s about me staying calm and I know that on July 14 it’s just going to be me and Danny Garcia in that ring.

Khan, as always, is confident that he is the better fighter. Consider it a threat or boasting, Khan does not care when he says he will punish Angel Garcia by beating his son in the ring. Astonishingly, Khan is not participating in the war of words for the fight, which is an affair he usually does not miss.
