Amir Khan: I need to bring belts back to Britain!

Amir Khan held the IBF and WBA light welterweight championships belts but he lost them to Lamont Peterson last year on December 10, in a fight which ended up in a storm of controversy. However, he is happy upon getting a chance to become the world champion once again.

The 25-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is also known as King Khan, will lock horns with Danny Garcia on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan’s fight with Garcia was initially for the WBC title but it has now become a unification bout since Peterson was stripped of the WBA title he won from Khan after he tested positive for the banned substance.

Therefore, the Brit is super excited ahead of his fight as he wants to become the world champion once again.

Khan told World Boxing News, “I’m relaxed and know what I need to do to bring those belts back to Britain!”

Khan remarked, “There are going to be two world titles on the line, the WBC belt and the WBA one. I was really pleased when I heard that both belts were going to be up for grabs and I would like to thank the WBA for reviewing everything and putting the belt up for grabs. I want to win back the world titles in the ring, the way it should be done.”

Recently in a press conference, Garcia’s father, Angel Garcia, claimed that his son will beat Khan in the ring. He also did a lot of trash talk about Khan’s religion. Nevertheless, Khan is completely unnerved with all the noises as he wants to give all the answers in the ring.

Khan added, “My business is in the boxing ring, that’s where I will be doing my talking. Everything that has been said I’m just using it as motivation and it’s made me even more determined to make sure it’s my hand that is raised at the end of the night.”
