Woman stoning case: IGP suspends DSP, SHO among others

Lahore: (Tuesday, July 24, 2012) Inspector General Punjab Police, Habib-ur-Rahman has suspended DSP Saddar Khanewal, area SHO Javed Khan, Inspector Shamshad Khalid and Sub-inspector Ashraf in Bibi Mriam’s stoning case in Khanewal.

In order to probe the matter further, the IGP has also formed an investigation committee that will be headed by the RPO Shaikhupura Zulfiqar Cheema. He has also recommended for a judicial inquiry into the incident.

DIG investigation Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed and the SSP Investigation Punjab Tariq Nawaz Malik will assist Zulfiqar Cheema.

Habib-ur-Rahman has also recommended transfer of RPO Multan Mubarak Athar besides ordering DPO Khanewal Waqar Abbasi to immediately report at the Central Police Office Punjab.
