Mahesh Bhatt not happy with Rs 100 crore club trend in Bollywood!

These days a movie which generates more money at the box office is considered as the best one. No one really cares about the storyline and Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt doesn’t like this trend at all which has developed in the industry.

While sharing thoughts with the media, Bhatt insisted that the films which are made with high budgets do more business at the box office in most of the cases. The director feels the Rs 100 crore club trend, which is going on in the market these days, overshadows successful small budget movies.

“The tragedy of our times is that we have become so greedy that we are not satisfied with anything less than the number one spot. That’s why we tell our athletes that you have lost the gold instead of saying you have won a silver,” the 63-year-old said here Tuesday in an interview.

“Similarly, we salute only those films that do a business of Rs.100 crore or Rs.200 crore. We don’t praise a film that does good business within it’s category,” he added.

Bhatt, who is known best for making films likes ‘Murder’, ‘Raaz’ and ‘Jism’, is currently working on his upcoming movie ‘Raaz 3’.

‘Raaz 3’ will feature Bipasha Basu in the lead role. Basu played the lead role in the original movie and Bhatt believes only she could have done full justice to the role.

“I think Bipasha has the hunger to stay on top now. She is refusing to concede this place to anybody and when you see her performance in ‘Raaz 3?, you’ll find it for yourself that she has given the kind of conviction and the kind of emotional depth which only she could have given,” he said.

Well, all said and done, Bhatt’s film ‘Jism 2’, which was released on August 3, did an excellent business at the box office, nevertheless, let’s see if ‘Raaz 3’ also lives up to the expectations,

The film is important for Bipasha as well since she is making her comeback in Bhatt’s camp after 10 years.
