NASA’s Kepler discovers new exoplanets

NASA´s Kepler space telescope has discovered 41 new exoplanets in 20 distant star systems. They up the total number to 116 planets in 67 systems.

The new transiting planets range from Earth-size to more than seven times the radius of Earth, but are too close to stars to be habitable.

"These systems […] give us important clues about how planetary systems form and evolve. This information helps us understand how our own solar system fits into the population of all planetary systems," lead author Jason Steffen said.
