Jonathan Roberts and Joseph Cooling secure gold medals – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals

Jonathan Roberts and Joseph Cooling secured gold medals of the Men’s 1650 yard freestyle and 200m butterfly respectively at the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships.

Roberts faced tough battle from Liam Egan from the start, but with his unrelenting efforts, he managed to escape him over the finishing wall for the title with an effort of 15 minutes and 12.01 seconds.

He was trailed by Egan, who remained only 0.83 seconds slower from him over the finishing end and stepped on the podium for silver medal by clocking a time of 15 minutes and 12.84 seconds.

Egan was followed by Adam Henley, who was prominently slower from him over the finishing end but managed to secure third position by producing a time of 15 minutes and 21.36 seconds.

The third position holder was chased by Nick Arakelian, who was 0.02 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end for fourth position by producing a time of 15 minutes and 21.38 seconds.

Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Ryan Kao, who stayed only 0.18 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and completed his race in a time of 15 minutes and 21.56 seconds.

Afterwards, Schooling dominated the playoff of butterfly discipline. With his exhausting efforts in the eight-lap race, Schooling enjoyed a full body length lead over his challengers and reached the wall for first position with an effort of 1 minute and 45.00 seconds.

The champion was followed by Pace Clark, who remained 0.96 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 45.96 seconds.

The silver medallist was traced by James Yoder, who remained 0.90 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing blockade for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 46.86 seconds.

Fourth spot of the discipline was secured by David Charles, who was 0.02 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 46.88 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
