Arsene Wenger wants the Gunners to stay focus – Football News

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, wants his team to maintain consistency in their game after their 5-2 victory against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

On Monday night, Wengers team fired five spectacular goals to record their second consecutive win at the Barclays English Premier League. Lukas Podolski hammered the opener to take the initial lead. Santi Cazorla then went berserk and hit a treble to take Gunners 4-0 up. Apart from losing their focus after that and conceding two goals, Theo Walcott netted a stunner and eventually sealed the victory with a 5-2 score line.

The Frenchman was delighted for his team’s performance and stated in an interview to Arsenal Player:

“It was very satisfying because we were under a lot of pressure before the game. We had to absolutely give a great response and win. We did it in a convincing way. At 4-0 we maybe subconsciously released a little bit of our focus and were punished straight away. But we found the resources to win 5-2. We created many chances, played great football….”

The Gunners lost only to Swansea in their last six English Premier League game. However, their lost to the Bradford City in the quarter-finals at the Capital One Cup caused unrest among team. He reflected,

“Let’s not forget in the Premier League, in the last six games we lost against Swansea and that’s it. We had a very positive game against West Brom. In between, we had that Bradford game that of course created a lot of unrest.”

Wenger also praised the Spanish midfielder who set up one goal and hit a hat-trick.

He added, “He did very well tonight. He scored the most spectacular goals and he missed the easy chances.”

Arsenal will next take on Wigan at the DW Stadium on 22nd December.
