Malaysia’s impressive shuttler Tee Jing Yi proved her supremacy in the arena as she wrapped up Women’s Singles title after defeating her team-mate Lydia Cheah Li Ya in the final encounter of Maybank National Circuit GP Finals 2012 in Malaysia, on Sunday, December 30.
The in-form Tee Jing, who has been showing up her remarkable skills at international stage for the last couple of years, proved her worth on court and after a little wobble, won the title in 41 minutes.
Tee Jing stayed confident on court as she did not lose her focus at any stage on court and remained successful in winning the battle in straight sets with a reasonable total on the board.
On the other hand, the aggressive Lydia Cheah tried her best to play attacking badminton and also troubled her rival in the second game but failed to prove her worth in ending points and lost the match with a close margin.
Tee Jing performed extremely well from the starting rallies of first game as she played with remarkable speed and took over the control of the game.
The hard-to-learn variations in Tee Jing’s strokes helped her to continue her domination against her challenger in the arena.
Until the end of first part of first set, the in-form Tee Jing attained a strong position on board by setting up a sufficient gap.
Lydia Cheah tried to put up strong resistance but could not take charge of the game and remained trailing in the ending half.
Tee Jing continued hitting powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually took the opening game with a superb margin of 21-18.
However, Tee Jing could not set up an early lead in the second game as Lydia Cheah played better badminton and both ladies remained close until the one-minute interval.
After the one-minute break, both ladies continued their positive run on court as they played with superb precision and reached at 21-21 when Tee Jing showed her class and won the set with a tight margin of 23-21.
Tee Jing left the court as a winner as she finished up the final battle in a decent fashion with a convincing 21-18 and 23-21 score on the board.
