Die Mannschaft team trainer is hoping that the Bavarian giants’ striker will prove himself again at the highest level after his injury woes.
Germany head coach Joachim Low feels that Bayern Munich star Mario Gomez will again be competing at the international level soon enough. The prolific goalscorer has not played for the national team since their loss to Italy in the semi-finals of the 2012 European championships.
However, the forward has been included in the 23-man squad that will play against France in a friendly game on Wednesday. This is because Low believes that the attacker can still compete at the top level as he has a lot of experience and has tremendous amount of talent.
The national side boss claimed that Mario is fully fit now. He said that both he and Miroslav Klose are the perfect strikers that the team needs to be effective.
“I am convinced that, given his qualities and his experience, he will be able to prove himself again at the highest international level. Mario Gomez is back in a good physical condition after his long injury. Like Miroslav Klose, he has everything needed to put our philosophy into practice in the centre forward’s role,” he added.
“Rene played an excellent first half of the season in the Bundesliga. After returning to our squad to face the Netherlands, he has now earned the chance to prove himself against France,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
“In March, we will then put our faith in Manuel Neuer again for the decisive World Cup qualifying games. He is still our clear number one,” he finally concluded.
Low stated that Rene Adler will replace Bayern custodian Manuel Neuer following his amazing form for Hamburg this term. He praised Rene and suggested he has a great chance to show his potential against France.
