Canada’s top shuttler Michelle Li proved her worth in front of her home fans as she played with remarkable precision and managed to claim Women’s Singles title at the Canadian National Championships 2013.

In the final battle, the top seeded Michelle played terrific badminton and remained successful in beating her lower ranked challenger Christin Tsai on Saturday, February 2, in Canada.

The in-form Michelle was in remarkable form in the arena as she did not show any mercy to any of her rivals throughout the championship and wrapped up the title by ending up the final battle in 44 minutes.

However, the final battle was a tussling one where Michelle had to employ all of her skills and she remained successful in grabbing a close victory in straight games with a reasonable 21-16 and 21-18 score on the board.

On the other hand, the second seeded Christin tried her best to play attacking badminton and remained successful in troubling her rival in opening parts. But she failed to find a finishing touch in the ending points and lost both games with a decent margin.

In the opening set of this final encounter, both ladies played top class badminton and pushed each other everywhere in the court.

Nevertheless, it was Michelle who took over the charge of rallies and managed to set up a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the one-minute break.

After the mid-game interval, the lower ranked Christin played much better badminton and managed to make the score leveled at 13-13.

But Michelle raised her level of play and controlled the pace of rallies at this stage. She remained in commanding position in the concluding points and took the game with a 21-16 score on the board.

In the second game, Christin again played well and gave a tough fight to her challenger but failed to maintain her flow and remained behind on the score board at 9-11 until mid-game interval.

After the break, the top seeded Michelle continued her roller-coaster performance without showing any respect to Christin. She did not lose her focus at any stage and won the second game with a margin of 21-18 and sealed of victory in straight games.
