Yannick Lebherz and Alia Atkinson seize gold medals – Arena Grand Prix

Yannick Lebherz and Alia Atkinson seized gold medals of the Men’s 200m freestyle and Women’s 100m breaststroke respectively on first day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix.

His astonishing pace stayed almost half a body length ahead of his toughest challenger, as Lebherz occupied gold medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 49.48 seconds.

He was followed by Conor Dwyer and Robert Hurley, who engaged each other in a stroke-to-stroke race for second position. Both swimmers tried hard to overpower each other but failed to do so and finished second in the race.

They remained 0.33 seconds away from their preceding swimmer and surfaced on the wall for silver medals by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 49.81 seconds.

Fourth best of the race was gained by Michael Klueh, who stayed as nearly full body length slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 50.61 seconds.

Klueh was trailed by Ryan Lochte of Daytona Beach Swim Club, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end for fifth position by producing an effort of 1 minute and 50.78 seconds.

On the other hand, Atkinson occupied gold medal of the 100m breaststroke. With her notable speed, Atkinson was in a half body length lead over her closest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 08.51 seconds.

The champion was traced by Katie Meili, who remained 0.49 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 09.00 seconds for silver medal.

Meili was chased by Rebecca Ejdervik, who remained only 0.49 seconds apart and secured third position of the race by producing an effort of 1 minute and 09.49 seconds.

Fourth finest spot of the event was secured by Margarethe Hummel, who stayed full body length behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 10.30 seconds.

Furthermore, the winners received accolades for their undisputed swims at the victory ceremony of the event.
