2013 German Open: Riichi Takeshita casts out Thomas Rouxel in qualifying round

Men’s Singles shuttler Riichi Takeshita played impeccable badminton and thrashed Rouxel Thomas in the qualifying round of Yonex German Open on February 26, 2013.

This encounter lasted for just two games as the Japanese campaigner just took 33 minutes to seal a splendid straight-set victory with 21-13 and 21-17 margin.

Riichi played with an authoritative approach from very first stroke and maintained that upper hand until last shot was played.

On the other hand, Rouxel could not rise from the dust throughout this tussle and bid adieu to this prestigious event in a disgraceful manner.

In first set of the match, Riichi launched a brisk attack and pushed his opponent on the back foot. He kept on pocketing valuable points at steady pace and left his challenger far behind on the points table.

He did not make any mistake and piled up a significant margin of 11 before the announcement of break.

After the interval, the Japanese player injected more intensity in his attack and confined the opposing shuttler in rear court.

At first, he mounted pressure with couple of productive rallies in third quarter of the set and then magnified the impact with an overwhelming score of 21-13.

The following game was not a dead contest as this time Rouxel showed some spark and challenged his rival in all areas of the game.

In first half of the set, he took some time to come out of his challenger’s influence but then few back to back points helped him to counterbalance the situation. At one-minute break, he was in respectable position but then some fatal mistakes weakened his grip.

Riichi did not squander this opportunity and reinstated his supremacy. He registered a winning total of 21-17 and moved into next round.
