Carl Jenkinson believes that a good run will lead to a top four finish – Football News

Arsenal defender, Carl Jenkinson, insists that a good run in the Barclays English Premier League can lead to a top four finish for his side.

Arsene Wenger’s side is currently trailing five points from the fourth placed team, Chelsea, and are seven points behind their arch-rivals Tottenham hotspurs.

The Gunners recently squandered a chance of getting back into the top four when they bowed out to their North London rivals, Spurs, in their last Premier League clash at the White Hart Lane.

Andre Villa Boas’s side took full advantage of the poor defending by the Gunners in the opening half they went 2-0 up. Bale scored the opener and Lennon doubled the lead after scoring in a similar way as the Welshman did.

In the second half Gunners came out strong and gave tough time to their fellow Londoners. The German International, Per Mertesacker, grabbed a goal back for Arsenal. However, Arsenal failed to capitalise on their chances and eventually suffered a 1-2 loss.

Jenkinson was quoted in an interview to the Arsenal Player:

“There are two teams to chase and I don’t think we can get too caught up in how they’re doing. If we go on a good run now, we’ll finish in the top four. I’m sure of that. If you look at Tottenham’s run in, it’s quite difficult. They’ve got some difficult games so we’re going to hope that they drop points. If we focus on what we’ve got to do, I think it will take care of itself.”

Arsenal are on 10 days break before they take on the German giants, Bayern Munich, in the second leg at the UEFA Champions League on 13^th March.
