Lahm believes in Germany’s quality

The Germany international is hoping that the national team can prevail from their upcoming fixtures in the near future

Bayern Munich team skipper is confident that Germany will easily reach the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but he admitted that they will have to be on their top form in the latest international tests. The national side are desperate to qualify for the premier tournament in Brazil.

Die Mannschaft will play Kazakhstan twice on March 22 and 26, and the national team captain is looking forward to get good results against their rivals. The left-back claimed that they are not afraid of the opposing team and only focus on themselves. He stated that they can win if they are on top form.

If their World Cup group C competitors Sweden maintain good performances, then the fixture between Joachim Low’s men and Erik Hamren’s team could prove to be vital. Nevertheless, the defender is not looking that far as he is focused on the job at hand for now.

“We only look at ourselves, and if we bring our best performance, I’m certain our quality will prevail,” the 29-year-old was quoted as saying on the official DFB website.

“We have it in our own hands. If Sweden wins every match, than that’s the situation we’ll have to face. Knockout matches are always interesting; I look at them as a challenge,” the club captain added.

“However, we have a couple of tasks at our hands before, and we should take it one step at a time,” the full back mused.

“Spain have won three consecutive tournaments. In my view, they have a special standing in world football,” the star player explained.

“They are the team of the century. Therefore, for this tournament, Spain are still the biggest favourites in my opinion,” he finally concluded.
