President’s Spokesperson rejects Shahbaz Sharif statement

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar has deplored the allegation leveled by former Chief Minister Mr. Shahbaz Sharif that the President was involved in making postings and transfers of senior officials in the government as “not only absolutely baseless but also highly irresponsible”.

Shahbaz Sharif alleged Friday that the caretaker Prime Minister, under the influence of President Asif Zardari, was making transfers and postings in the federal government and was not prepared to listen to the PML-N.

He also asked the caretaker prime minister should respect the public mandate, as he was bound to follow the same politically, morally and legally. He warned that he should not force the PML-N to take any strong measures.

Presidential spokesman rejected Shehbaz’s assertions in a statement.

“The President has nothing do with any recent postings and transfers in the federal and provincial bureaucracy and all postings and transfers have been made by the caretaker governments without reference to or interference from the Presidency,” he said.
Farhatullah Babar said that the Presidency completely dissociates itself from any recent posting and transfer in the bureaucracy.

“If the government in waiting has some reservations with some recent postings and transfers it may ask the caretakers to review its decisions but not malign the President,” he said.

The Presidency will be as much detached and unmoved if these postings were  cancelled or reviewed as it has been when these were first made, Farhatullah Babar said.
