Presidential candidate Mamnoon Hussain Monday said that he will resign from his party post if he gets elected as president.

Addressing PML-N Punjab’s parliamentary meeting in Lahore‚ Hussain said the country is moving towards a democratic change which is a welcoming sign. He said the office of the President is a symbol of federation.

Mamnoon Hussain vowed to use all his capabilities for the supremacy of the constitution.

He also canvassed parliamentarians for voting in his favor. Describing the office of President as the symbol of federation, the presidential candidate pledged to serve the country and its people in his capacity as President.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that presidential nominee of PML- N, Mr. Mamnoon Hussein, is a man of integrity and commitment and is fully capable of holding the exalted office of President of Pakistan.

“His election will add to the respect and dignity of the party, its allies and Pakistan,” the Prime Minister observed.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while presiding over the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Parliamentary Party meeting at the Parliament House, Islamabad this afternoon.

Alluding to presidential nominee’s unblemished democratic credentials, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that Mr. Mamnoon Hussein, after being elected as President, will come up to the nation’s trust and further exhorted the Parliamentary Party members to come on time tomorrow for the presidential voting.

With Tuesday’s presidential election, President will be stepping into the shows of its predecessor and this should have been taken in the right stride by opposition parties. Democratic era has ushered in the country and we have to move on this democratic path steadfastly and with courage by upholding the sanctity of the ballot box.

The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of improving the security situation in the country as economic growth and improved law and order go hand in hand. He said that with improved security situation in the country will come economic growth, foreign direct investment and overall development.
