Bangladesh is going to experience a change in government as the polling has started in the country. There have been several threats to the country regarding the security situation and this is why they have decided to deploy army troops throughout the polling stations so that there are no causalities.

There were several people in the country who claimed that these elections are going to be a farce, the current Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, is of the opinion that they should happen anyway on 5th of January. These general elections are expected to cause havoc in the country and right ahead of the dates when the polling will take place, the country’s army has already taken care of the security situation.

In total there are 64 districts in the country and the army is going to observe elections personally on 59 of these districts. While speaking about deploying army troops in such a situation, the Election Commission spokesman, S. M. Asaduzzaman stated:

“They´ll be used as a striking force if there is any violence and they will patrol important areas, streets and highways.”

There have been quite a lot of problems with the current government and a lot of people have died since January. The country is protesting against death sentences which have been handed down to Islamists who were accused of war crime in the 1971 war. It has been reported that at least 268 have lost their lives due to this problem.
