Recently a survey by the team of Geo News revealed that several government-run schools in Karachi are actually occupied by illegal mafias.

It was quite shocking for the team to believe that these mafias are not only controlling the schools; in fact, they are using them for personal usage. A few school premises have been converted into retail shops and factories. Others are using them as residential apartments. The lands of these schools are worth billions of Rupees but the government has not taken any action against it.

For now what the team knows is that the Provincial Department of Education planned everything with groups of land grabbers and allegedly put several schools under their control.

The raid also revealed that a government school in Maqbool Aam Primary School has now been converted into a ‘Tandoor’. Moreover, Asif Boys Primary School and Akhtar Girls Secondary School have both been converted into operation factories which are located at a prime location, Drig Road.

Besides this, several schools which are located in Liaquatabad Area are currently being used as residences. When the school management was contacted regarding this problem they revealed that even though they wrote letters to Sindh Education Minister, Nisar Khuhro and the Education Department, there was still no response from their side.
