Firing

According to the latest reports a group of five to six armed attackers opened fire in a district court in the F-8 sector of Pakistan’s capital Islamabad.

The firing, which is said to have lasted several minutes before security forces arrived at the scene, left many injured as chaos spread in the busy district court area. The exact number of injured people is as yet unknown as police and security forces have blocked all access points.

It is believed that the attackers are still within the confines of the court and judges and lawyers have been asked to remain in their chambers.

The attackers have also been reported to use hand grenades, but we have not been able to confirm any of the reports due to ongoing firing and a shutdown of the area.

According to the latest reports, 11 people lost their lives in the attack, and two of the attackers blew themselves. The remaining four attackers are said to have left the district courts in getaway cars.

The Supreme Court has taken suo-moto notice of the issue and has called for police and administration reports.
