Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, known for his flamboyant batting and bowling in the shortest format of the game, has surprisingly attracted no bids for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League tournament.
The Caribbean Premier League is set to begin on July 5 and bids for several Pakistani players have been made. These include Mohammad Hafeez, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team in the shortest format of the game, top order batsman Ahmad Shahzad, Nasir Jamshed, Imran Nazir, Shoaib Malik and Sohail Tanveer.
All these players have proven their worth in the 20-over format. Mohammad Hafeez, Sohaib Malik and Sohail Tanveer can bat and bowl, while Ahmad Shahzad, Nasir Jamshed and Imran Nazir are hard-hitting batsmen.
England’s batting all-rounder Kevin Pietersen bagged the highest bid $80,000.
Even though the Pakistan cricket team crashed in the quarter-final, they performed well in the ongoing World T20 and several players gave outstanding performances.
Pakistan’s hard-hitting batsmen and all-rounders are in demand all around the world when it comes to T20 leagues, but they are unable to participate in the Indian Premier League, which is the biggest of them all.
Senior Pakistan players believe that playing in these leagues can benefit our young talent as they gain experience.
