Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is finally ‘allowed’ to attend the oath taking ceremony of Indian Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi on May 26. Pakistani PM was invited by Modi along with other head of the states of SAARC countries to attend the ceremony. Nawaz Sharif accepted the invitation after getting ‘final approval’ from the security establishment.

Nawaz Sharif will meet for the first time with his Indian counterpart, though the chances of any dialogue on bilateral issues are out of question, most Pakistani political parties see the gesture a right step towards better relations between the two countries.

Pakistan has released 150 jailed Indian fishermen as a gesture of goodwill before the departure of Pakistani Prime Minister.

Nawaz Sharif consulted with other political parties regarding the visit to India and majority of the political parties responded positively. It is thought that the final decision was, however, made after the meeting of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had met with the Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman called the acceptacne of the Modi’s invitation by Nawaz Sharif a very good news. The spokesman said, “This would mark the start of a new relationship between Pakistan and India.”.
