Argentina to Play Germany in the Final of the FIFA World Cup 2014

Argentina has managed to surpass their expectations as they have now reached the final of the FIFA World Cup 2014. The Argentineans started their campaign from an easier group, but managed to beat stronger teams in the tournament to reach the final of the competition.

The four-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, is leading the charge for the South American giants. He has managed to help them reach the final of the competition, with a lot of help from other attacking players in the team.

They started the competition where they were paired up against Nigeria, Bosnia and Iran. The three weaker teams in the group meant that Argentina were favourites to top it and they managed to do so by beating all of them.

Argentina then faced Switzerland in the Round of 16 and managed to beat them during extra time after a strike from Angel Di Maria. Then they met Belgium in the quarter-finals and were able to win 1-0 against them once again. The semi-final was against a tough looking Netherlands side and after both the sides were unable to score for 120 minutes, the game was decided on penalty shootouts.

Argentina won 4-2 on penalties and will now be facing the Germans, who oust the home side, Brazil, after beating them 7-1 in the semi-final.
