First tourists on Moon

We hurry to bring the future to the present, but prices reveal the error. A virginiana company, Space Adventures, led by a visionary entrepreneur named Tom Shelley, will send the first two tourists to the moon by the end of 2017 or early 2018. Tickets cost $ 150 million and has already made two reservations. Shelley looks like a man with high persuasiveness. It has been able to convince two billionaires (unknown so far, but in honor of Disney’s call Uncle Scrooge and Scrooge McDuck).

It should be worth more than Allan Quatermain and Captain Thunder to do all that and also pay ($ 150 million is not a low cost rate). The travelers will have no possibility of waiving the trip once the ship has sailed. The only incentives, and bad debts, are the adrenaline rush and go down in history as the first tourists on the moon.

It is difficult to predict a thriving tourist market in the Solar System. Science fiction has described more drastic and feverish commercial utopias. But for that to happen, global GDP has to be multiplied by at least 10, the price of travel plummet – something that can only be achieved with investment and technology – and stay comfortable conditions are established. Meanwhile, the Lunar tourism will be an extravagant exercise; for Gilitos and McPatos.
