Italy sent aircraft to extinguish the fire in the Libyan oil tank

The Italian government sent seven aircraft to Libya to help in extinguishing the fire two days ago in a fuel tank in Tripoli and could cause a “catastrophe” if it were to explode, according to the Libyan Government.

The interim government of Abdullah Al Thani said in a statement that the Italian oil company ENI also participate in sending aircraft and technical specialists to smother the flames on the premises of the company Brega began by the impact of a missile night Sunday in a deposit of 6.6 million liters of oil.

The oil and gas facilities are located near the international airport in the capital, where they face from the last 13 militias in the cities of Misrata and Zintan to seize control of the airfield.

Since the fire broke out, two fuel tanks of the complex have been hit, it houses 90 million liters of hydrocarbons.

The authorities, who have called for the area to evict three miles around, have called on the warring parties to a ceasefire to facilitate the work of firefighters.

The fire comes at a time of great uncertainty and increasing instability in the capital, which has led many countries to evacuate their citizens so as to part or all of their diplomatic staff.
