Pakistan rejects Afghan allegations of cross border terrorist attacks

Pakistan Foreign Office strongly rejected  allegations by Afghanistan’s National Security Council and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for involvement of Pakistan in cross border terrorist attacks. Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in a statement in Islamabad this Thursday August 7, 2014 that Pakistan is not involved in any terrorist activities in Afghanistan and such allegation would undermine the prospects of relationships between the two countries.

“Pakistan reiterates its categorical rejection of Afghan allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist attacks and cross-border shelling”, said Tasnim Aslam. “We also firmly reject any statements vilifying Pakistan’s commitment to fight terrorism.”

Foreign Office spokesperson further said that mutual efforst are required by all sides to combat the common enemy, terrorism, effectively and avoiding baseless allegations.

“It only benefits the enemies of peace and undermines the prospects of a cordial relationship between the brotherly people of Pakistan and Afghanistan”, Ms Aslam added.

She said that Afghanistan should enforce stronger border control to stop the fleeing terrorists after the launch of Pakistan Army’s operation in North Waziristan against the militants. Ms Aslam further said Afghanistan must destroy the save havens for militants inside its terrorists.

Tasnim Aslam also said that statement by the newly appointed Indian Army Chief was irresponsible.
