Supreme Court reinstates acting chairman of PEMRA

Pakistan Supreme Court has reinstated acting chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Pervaiz Rathore and Executive Member Kamaluddin Tipo on Monday August 11, 2014.  Islamabad High Court had earlier suspended the appointments of the two officials.

Chief Justice Nisir-ul-Mulk heading the three member bench ruled that acting chairman Pervaiz Rathore and Executive Member Kamaluddin Tipo can continue to working on their positions in PEMRA as the Islamabad High Court decision was set aside.

Pervaiz Rathore and Kamaluddin Tipo were appointed by government on June 24th, however, their appointments were challenged in Islamabad High Court.
