Pakistan PM and Army Chief meet second time in 72 hours

Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif have met in Islamabad on Thursday August 28, 2014 for the second time within last 72 hours due to highly volatile political situation in the country.

Pakistan’s political and security leadership had discussed the political and security situation in Islamabad after Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have announced shutting down the doors of negotiations.

PM Nawaz Sharif asked the Army Chief to play the role of mediation between government of protesting Imran Khan and Dr. Tahirul Qadri.

Nawaz Sharif and General Raheel Sharif reportedly decided to end the political deadlock in the country as soon as possible. Both of them also met earlier this week on August 26 to discuss the situation.
