On Sunday, the Ministry of Interior affirmed that details of all foreigners living in private houses in the capital city has been collected by the police following unconfirmed reports that some of the non-nationals living in the capital city had disappeared.
The disappearance is suspected to have something to do with an incident which happened a few years ago when some non-nationals living in the federal capital refused to provide their data requested by the ministry. The police found foreigners living in 430 houses in the city during a survey conducted in February 2014.
The ministry dispensed notices to the immigrants occupying the remaining 303 houses to deliver their details by March 15 after the police already collected data from the compiling tenants from 127 houses.
The reports revealed that the owners claimed to have not known about the whereabouts of their tenants when the police go to the houses.
Rumors, however, say that the foreigners did not provide their details before their alleged disappearance.
The Ministry of Interior countered the rumor on Sunday by issuing an official statement asserting that ‘all foreigners residing in the residential capital had provided their details.’ And that ‘reports about the disappearance of the foreigners living in 65 houses were incorrect.’
The officially issued a statement that publicized that the data was being evaluated and confirmed then stored to be used for security purposes
It also went on to say that “the deadline of March 16 was given to the foreigners residing in 303 houses and it was decided that the entry and exit points of the houses would be sealed if the tenants did not provide their details on time.”
The inhabitants eventually provided their data to the authorities an hour before the deadline after years of reluctance, the statement announced confirming the statement that the ministry of interior had successfully obtained the details of all the foreigners living in the capital.
