There had been rumors going around that actress Angelina Jolie will be a visiting professor at Georgetown University, creating a hype amongst students, but it turns out that those rumors are not true.
Recently, GU just set the record straight, by denying all reports surround Jolie being a visiting professor there.
Rachel Pugh, a representative for the university told the US mag: “We enjoy a partnership with the London School of Economics as part of that work, where Angelina Jolie and William Hague are scheduled to teach a class in the fall. There are no current plans for Ms. Jolie to teach at Georgetown.”
Jolie is a famous actor, who is known for her humanitarian work and is also a UN ambassador. She has gone around the world, vouching for women’s rights and helping the poor. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Jolie will be teaching a course for London School of Economics Masters’ program. The course is a new addition to the curriculum and is a study of women, peace and security. Teaching alongside Jolie will be British politician William Hague.
In regards to the LSE programme, Jolie had said, “I am very encouraged by the creation of this master’s programme. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict. I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations.”
Even though Jolie is not teaching at GU just yet, the management says she is welcome to join at any time.
