Amjad Sabri’s killers make startling confessions during interrogation

The two militants who were allegedly behind the murder of famous qawwal Amjad Sabri are currently under interrogation by the authorities and they have reportedly made some startling confessions.

According to reports, the two militants belong to the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ) group and their names are Ishaq, alias Bobby, and Asim, alias Capri. Both these militants were arrested from Liaquatabad area ealier this week for their involvement in 28 cases, including the murder case of Sabri.

According to the details of the interrogation, both Bobby and Capri admitted to killing Sabri because he used to attend majalis in the month of Muharram. Capri further added that Sabri had done a programme on TV channel in which slain activist Khurram Zaki allegedly uttered some questionable words that the qawwal had supported.

According to an official of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Capri’s two brothers are imprisoned whereas his third brother got killed in a police encounter.

It was also reported that Capri had even shifted to Amjad Sabri’s neighborhood with the intention of killing him, even though he himself belonged to Gulbahar area. Eventually Bobby and Capri killed Sabri while he was in his car. Apparently Bobby is an expert shooter who eventually targeted and shot Sabri. Bobby, who is a resident of Karachi’s Orangi Town, is a Hafiz-i-Quran. He joined LJ in 2012 and since then he had carried out several tasks for the group.

Bobby also has expertise in internet surfing and he told investigators that it was him who collected material from the internet regarding the activities of the qawwal.
