A teenage girl, who worked as a mehndi artist at a parlor in Karachi, was raped and later strangled to death. Her body was found dumped in the outskirts of Karachi on Wednesday by the police.
According to the details provided, the condition of her body and the circumstances of her death pointed towards her rape. However, medical tests still have to be conducted which will further confirm these speculations.
The police reported that the body of the 17-year-old victim was found from an under-construction plot at Sector 4-D in Surjani Town at around 11 am on Wednesday. She was later found to be a resident of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri. Her parents had initially reported her missing and the police and her family was on the lookout for her.
“The people informed us when they found the body,” Surjani police station DSP Sohrab Meo told the reporters. The police reached the site and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy, he added.
The girl used to work at a parlor and she had left the beauty parlor near her residence at around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. After that she went missing and was never seen again.
Her family approached the police on Tuesday evening and a missing person’s case was registered. Initial reports suggest that the rape and murder took place sometime during Tuesday night.
The victim was strangulated to death with her own dupatta, which was also found near the crime scene. She was initially identified because of her mobile which was lying near her body.
According to the police, a case has not been registered as yet since the girl’s family is busy with funeral preparations and burial.
