Hundreds of fans welcome Sarfaraz as the cricket team returns home victorious

The Pakistani team gave a glorious Eid present to the nation by winning the Champions Trophy after beating India in a thrilling match. Ever since the victory, fans in Pakistan had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the heroes of Pakistan cricket team.

Hundreds of fans stayed up till late to welcome home members of the cricket team as they returned back to their country after the match. Airports at Lahore and Karachi were jam packed as hundreds of fans had come there to greet the players returning home.

The street where the captain of the cricket team Sarfaraz Ahmed lives, was decorated by fans and throngs of people stayed up waiting for hours for the captain to return home. Sarfaraz arrived with fast bowler Ruman Raees at 4:45 am with the trophy that the team had won for the first time.

The players arrived in a convoy which was provided by the provincial government and it took them half hour just to get to Sarfaraz’s house as the street was completely jam packed.

People had gathered on the roof tops and balconies to just catch a glimpse of their captain. Children could also be seen riding on their father’s shoulders, joining in the festivities.

After Sarfaraz got to his home, he came out on his balcony with the trophy in his hand and the crowd started cheering.

“This is your trophy and we won it just because of you,” he said.

Raees said he didn’t sleep for two days because of all the excitement following the win.

“I dedicate the win to the whole nation and we enjoyed the victory a lot, congratulations to the whole country,” Raees said.
