An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two brothers in a small town in Sahiwal on Tuesday. The incident took place in an area called Chak 19/SP Pakpattan where both the victim and suspect’s family homes are located.

After the incident, the girl’s family held a protest against Sadar police for not registering a gang-rape case against the accused. It has been reported that the suspects are sons of a former assistant sub-inspected (ASI) of police.

According to the details provided by the father of the victim, the girl was a student of grade III and she used to regularly visit a friend in the neighboring street. On Tuesday, the girl went to her friend’s house where her two brothers raped her.

Due to the incident, the girl fainted and did not return home for a long time. Her family got worried and when they went to her friend’s house, they found the girl in a very bad shape. They immediately took her to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where the doctors provided her with medical care.

After the incident made headlines, the local PML-N leaders also came to the hospital to express solidarity with the victim’s family.

When the local media contacted the victim’s father, he told them that the local police were pressuring him not to register a gang-rape case against the suspect.

Meanwhile the police maintain that this is not a gang-rape case as the suspect’s younger brother might have just assisted his elder brother in committing the crime. The police arrested the main suspect soon after the incident was reported.
