Justin Timberlake’s In Time: Coming soon to Pakistani Theatres

Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried stars in Andrew Niccol’s “In time”, a sci-fi flick which is set to release on 28th of October worldwide and on Eid-ul-Azha in Pakistan.

In Time revolves around a saying, “Time is Money” which becomes the motto of the society. In a not so distant future when the people stop aging at 25-year-old. However, a timer is attached inside their forearm which shows how much time they can live. This
is all to stop overpopulation but there is a drawback as the rich can buy more time and live forever. On the other hand, poor have to negotiate and fight to live longer.

A young man Will Salas, starred by Timberlake, is accused of murder after inheriting a fortune of time from a wealthy old man over a century old prior to his death. Salas is forced to go on run from the CID like police force called the Timekeepers. Adding
further to his misery, a middle aged Mob called the Minutemen is also behind him. The mob is led by a 75-year-old senior citizen, Fortis (played by Alex Pettyfer).

Despite being immortal for a certain period of time, Niccol still come to a conclusion: “Live like there’s no tomorrow.” It can be said for us but not for the people who have an embedded life clock on their forearms.

Timberlake gave a stunning acting performance but a glint of true rebelliousness and a slight change in the make-up could have nudged the performance to another level. Seyfried, the red riding hood, too, would have benefited from being further pushed by
make-up changes.

The 110 minute flick faced a plagiarism suit on 15th September, 2011. A suit was filed by the attorneys on behalf of a fiction writer Harlan Ellison. He claimed that the plot of the movie was based on his 1965 award winning short story, “Repent,
Harlequin!” Said the Ticktockman. Both the movie and the story involved a dystopian future in which people have a set amount of time to live which can be revoked.

This Sci-Fi thriller would be a great way to spend your Eid, either with your friends or family.
