Yuvraj Singh: The play boy of Indian cricket

Where style, stamina and seemliness come, Yuvraj is the first name that buzzes the mind. In the vast world of cricket, Yuvraj is shining like a moon of fourteenth night. He is one of a few cricketers whose achievement lists are longer than their careers.
Yuvraj is a significant asset of India Cricket Team. He is a glory of the ‘Mother India’ and an artery of the hearts of his fans.

The Indian all-rounder cricketer, Yuvraj Singh was born on 12 December, 1981 in the Indian Punjab. His father, Yograj Singh, had been a fast bowler and a Bollywood star. Thus he inherited the style of silver screen and stamina of cricket crease. Being a
Punjabi Jat, he has been well-built and enthusiast since his boyhood.

Yuvraj started his cricket career as U-19 cricketer. Soon he became captain of the team. Following his marvelous 358 runs in the Cooch-Behar Trophy, he was selected for the U-19 World Cup 2000. He performed well and India won the tournament. After that he
was taken in National Cricket Academy where he started polishing his hill-high capabilities and skills.

After completing the training period successfully, Yuvraj emerged as an all-rounder. Being left-handed batsman and slow left-arm bowler, he was directly selected in the ODI squad of India Cricket Team. Yuvraj made his debut in the international cricket on
3 October, 2000 in an ODI against Kenya. However, he did not get a chance to bat of bowl. He made his Test debut in October 2003 against New Zealand.

Yuvraj played his first T20 against Scotland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007. This World Cup gave a sudden boost to his career. In one of the matches of the tournament, he hit 6 sixes in an over to the English pacer, Stuart Broad. This tremendous achievement
created a great hype for Yuvraj and he became the batting star of India.

Yuvraj’s decade old career is packed with many sterling successes and achievements. His international career statistics are as follows:

Batting Records

Yuvraj has played 274 ODIs. In 252 innings, his score is 8051 including 827 fours and 144 sixes. His average has been 37.6e. He has played 37 Test matches and scored 1775 with the help of 247 fours and 19 sixes. He has 23 T20s to his credit with 567 runs
that include 34 fours and 38 sixes.

Bowling Records

In 274 ODIs, Yuvraj has gained 109 wickets.  In 37 Tests, he has taken just 9 wickets. His T20 wickets are also 8 off194 runs.

Apart from cricket career, Yuvraj, like his father, has also made inroads in showbiz. In 2006, he was appointed as a Brand Ambassador of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game console. He gave his voice over for the Bollywood animated film, Jumbo. He has also appeared
as hero in another animated movie “Captain Indian”.
