A player is the native of a borderless world. He has no country, no creed, no colour and no region. Born at Asia, trained at Africa and living in America, he can perform in Australia. National and geographic bond must not impede a player’s skills and circle.
After the English County Cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is credited to have gathered multiple players from different parts of the world to play in India. Despite the fact that the IPL has showered abundant cash over players and profuse cricket over
people, the format has been a sheer controversy since its inception in 2008.

There has been a conflict between country and club and between the personal future of players and national pride. Cricketers are always confused to choose between the two and historically speaking, most of them go for securing their future.

There is no vice if a player prefers his future than his nation as nation it is a fundamental right of every human being to struggle for his survival. The country and the national team is not likely to give due reward of a player’s skills and abilities and
cricketers have no other source of livelihood except game, so what must they do? Just to play trans-border game to earn for their comfortable living.

There is no denying the fact that a player devotes his entire life for the game. He start cricket at early teen age and practices till the late teen. Then he is able to compete at national and international level. All this is not a smooth sailing as players
have to face many challenges during this process. Leg-pulling, politics, conspiracies, jealousy and much more. Passing through all this, he becomes able to establish a promising career. But the domestic and national game cannot feed the kitchen, players are
forced to seek cross-border careers.

Indeed, the IPL has brought a revolution in the world of cricket. In the history of the game, it is the first league to flood so many cash and cricket across the world. Many players, who did not have glaring future in their national teams, earned repute
and wealth simultaneously through IPL.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is one of the richest cricket governing bodies of the world. It has plenty of wealth at its helm and the IPL, operated under its aegis, contains investments from the top industrial and media fraternity. Thus
the league is in the position to grant more than due remunerations to the players.

Apart from players, the IPL has generated many sources of wealth for media and the cricket managers as well. To broadcast the tournament, media earn a lot from advertisement. There are bundle of organizing bodies which contain huge staff. They all depend
on cricket for their lucrative livelihood. During a league match a few days back, a commentator even confessed, “Just imagine if tomorrow, for some reason, the players stopped playing. We will all be out of jobs.”

Based on T20 format, the IPL provides thrilling and exciting games to the cricket lovers. Held of every year, it keeps the attention of the viewers intact. The spectators and the home viewers love to watch the startling competitions of the league and talk
about them. It will not be unjust to say that the league has given a new dimension to the second most popular game of the world.

After the success story of the IPL, some other countries like Pakistan and Emirates are thinking to found such types of leagues. This is a healthy and positive trend that will embellish the game and keep it alive forever.
