Zavisa comments on Pakistani football

Pakistan National team coach Zavisa Milosavljevic has commented on the current football situation in the country and revealed that in order to prosper, the league must be professionalized and that certain other changes should also be implemented.

The Serbian boss faces tough challenge in making the Green-Shirts a competitive unit that competes on the International level, but reiterated that with the right strategy and ample working time, that could surely be achieved.

Speaking to reporters, the trainer said that it took 2-4 years to make a strong National team and a number of stages must be followed in order to reach the desired level.

 “Making a competitive senior team needs coaching stint for at least two to four years. During the period, programme of training must be fully followed. The newly proposed programme requires good strategy and plan: Target: What is our final aim? Analysis:
Where are we now? Vision: Where do we want to be? Action: How do we get there? Control: Are we getting that?”

He also revealed that a new training regime had been developed for the U-22 side that would help them in qualification for the age-limit Asian Cup.

“We have made a comprehensive training plan and our target will be to qualify for the final round to be held in 2013.”

Lastly he added that turning the current top tier competition into a pro league was essential and that a football academy based on foreign models should also be operated by the PFF in order to groom the youth.

“It is absolutely necessary to professionalize the league structure. And Of course, there should be an academy and the model should be that of the Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and Japan,” the former Rwanda boss was quoted as saying.
