Is Punjab Government using laptops to strengthen its vote bank?

Shahbaz Shareef honoured the students across Punjab with a total number of 1 Lac 25 thousand personal laptops. It is believed that a sum of PKR 2 billion is the total amount spent during the operation.

Mr. Haider Ali, a student of Business Administration at the Punjab University Lahore shared his thoughts after receiving the personal machine from the Chief Minster.

“It is an excellent step taken by the Government officials and as many as 90 % of the University students cannot afford a laptop”, he noted.

He further added that, “It will give me numerous benefits including, completing the assignments and exploring web for the better understanding of the subjects taught”.

Different student’s shared different opinions but all of them are definitely delighted on receiving the fully equipped Dell machine.

It includes a 320 GB hard disk, an Intel dual core processor and a 2 GB ram to ensure that the students match the pace of international competition.

While most of the people are appreciating the measures taken by Shahbaz Shareef, critics definitely have their own side of the story.

Mr. Shareef has been accused of using the Government funds to support his election campaign.

Not only the laptops but also the Punjab Sports festival came during the time when the General Elections are closing in.

The political parties are striving hard to ensure that they leave no stones unturned before the 2013 General Elections.

PML-N is considered amongst the most experienced political forces in the country and it will definitely try every trick of the trade to succeed during the coming elections.

Mr. Shahbaz Shareef has targeted the youth with his laptop campaign and is hoping to break Imran Khan’s vote reserves.

However, the youth being the back bone of Imran Khan’s party, the laptops are less likely to change the minds of the literate and sensible youth desperate to bring a change in the country.

Its good for the people and its good for the party at the same time. This is one of the rare ocassion when money is actually coming back to Local public.

I am sure most of the laptops will not even leave the Party offices throughout Pakistan.

It is very very welcome step on the part of Chief Minister to award laptop to students. Certainly it depicts a high vision of education, interest in the youth and resolution to see a prosperous of the honourable. It is not a random service to students. It has involved huge funds. He should be appreciated for this extraordinary step for the students. He deserves in all his rights to be voted by by the students.
